1. What can I do to stop my chatty, busy mind?

Start writing it down. The more you try to think through your thoughts, the busier and stronger they become. Grab a pen and paper and start writing down the things that come up in your mind. See what your thoughts really are and what they’re saying to you and then decide if they deserve more of your attention and energy or if they’re something you can let go and change your behavior and beliefs towards moving forward.

2. How do I start a meditation practice?

One of the best ways to start a meditation practice is...to start! Make a small commitment to do a 5-minute meditation each day or maybe just a few times a week. Create a calming space by diffusing essential oils, dimming the lights, playing soft background music. Make it your haven and commit to it. DRAFTJS_BLOCK_KEY:4b95As your ego sees you showing up to it, it will get quieter each time and you can build up the time you’d like to be in practice as you grow it and witness the change.

3. How do you start self-healing your mind and body?

Take some time to sit with yourself and decide what or where you’d like to start. Sometimes, it may be a physical pain or ailment that needs immediate attention. Other times, it may be more emotional or relational or spiritual. Take a day to really look at your life and see where you feel you’re imbalanced and then ask yourself if you’re ready and willing to start showing up to the healing for that part of you. The rest will start to come up naturally as you begin and commit to healing this one part of yourself or your life with a full and open heart and a belief and knowing that you are worthy to heal and thrive in life.

4. What are the best crystals to start with if you’ve never used them?

I love telling people to see if they can go to a store and actually look around and touch and connect with different crystals to see what they’re drawn to without necessarily looking at the description of what that crystal is for. If that’s not possible, you can also look online to find some crystals and see how you feel about them and your initial reaction when looking at them. If you have something specific you’re seeking support with or wanting to activate or energize in your home or office or space, then you can look up specific crystals that support that intention. I always love a good rose quartz for love, clear quartz for clearing or uplifting energy, celestite or angelite for healing, black tourmaline to clear negative energy and an amethyst for magic and a balanced mind in any collection to start.

5. How can I heal burnout?

Each person is different and has unique needs to begin peeling back the layers that lead to burnout. There are also varying degrees of burnout and some that require the support of healthcare professionals. One of my simple tips for anyone experiencing regular burnout is to turn off all of your phone and device notifications. We may not always realize it but the immediate ping that a notification causes to our central nervous system can be extremely disruptive. It can also be important to do a gentle overhaul of your daily, weekly and monthly schedule to see where in your life you are constantly leaking energy that is not getting replaced, refueled or rebuilt.

To start, think about also adding relaxation techniques to your daily routine, such as a 5-minute meditation or breathwork, or possibly adding an adaptogen like Ashwagandha or Kava Kava to your supplement routine (please consult with your doctor or healthcare provider before doing so),* or sipping on a warm cup of herbal tea.

We all have different levels of energy that can be based on different output, different seasons of the year, minor and major traumas that occur or have occurred in the past and so much more. What I recommend is really taking some time to look at how you’re feeling most days, find where you can choose new ways of showing up and where you can set some healthy boundaries that will support you and your energy each day. We are not good to anyone if we don’t have our health and part of having good health is having good boundaries, knowing your capacity and how to refill your tank.
