Reiki is a Japanese word. “Rei” means "God's Wisdom or Higher Power" and Ki means "Life Force Energy". (Pronounced Ray-Key.) So, Reiki is actually "Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy” or “Universal Life Force Energy.”
We are all energy.
For those of you who may like the more science and evidence based approaches, here we go: As my reiki master once told me, “Scientifically, Reiki is the bio-photon (light) emission conducted from one organic species to another. Reiki is from the light of lights and light is science. Reiki balances the recipient’s disturbances in their body’s bio-energy field. As Albert Einstein told us back in the 1920’s, through his equation, everything, including our bodies, is composed of energy.”
It’s actually quite fascinating when you really connect to this thought. Everything in life is, on a scientific level, made up of energy. Your body is made of energy. Everyone is energy. And, as energy, we have the ability to emit and absorb energy as well.
That is the beauty and power of reiki:
You have the ability to shift and heal your own energy.
And I can help guide you.
I am deeply honored and incredibly grateful to finally share the first-ever Reiki Healing 101 course. This class was created by me, strengthened by my family at MindBodyGreen and is intended for you if you're ready to take your life to a new place of healing, shifting and uplifting. It has everything I have learned, all that I practice, guided meditations, exercises to propel deeper connection and life reminders to get you connected on even the toughest days.

Natalie R, Reiki I LA
My Reiki I training has allowed me to drop into my intuition immensely more in my day-to-day life. It's so clear to me what my intuition is and when it's reaching out to me, when before I oftentimes doubted or dismissed it. I also love how there isn't any "right" or "wrong" way to reiki, that's been a huge lesson for my Type A personality as well and something that I've really been able to see come to life. I'm starting to realize that "right" and "wrong" or "normal" and "abnormal" are all just made up ideas anyway, we're all existing and doing our best and that is enough. In fact, it's more than enough. Most of the time, it's magical.

Starting my Reiki Level 1 training with Kelsey was powerful and emotional. I continued with Kelsey to receive my Level 2 and completed my Reiki Masters under her guidance as well. In my experience, no matter which level I was at Kelsey always created a dynamic learning atmosphere of practical knowledge and hands-on training. She cultivated a safe environment to be open and real. Kelsey has this beautiful natural way of getting to the underlining believes of what holds us back so we can move forward - I have witnessed it and experienced it - she can do it within minutes of talking to you. Her Reiki training is not only practical but its life-changing as well.
Heather M, Reiki III LA
Continuing my reiki journey through Reiki III training with Kelsey has changed my life. I'm in the midst of healing my younger self via distance reiki at this time and giving myself time and space to do it at my own pace. This principle of being patient with myself and honoring where I'm at, not where I "think" I should be at, and punishing myself for not being there, is a new concept that reiki evoked that I'm learning and loving.
There isn't anyone that wouldn’t benefit from this work with Kesley. One work. Amazing!
EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE
Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT (often known as Tapping or EFT Tapping), is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues.
EFT operates on the premise that no matter what part of your life needs improvement, there are unresolved emotional issues in the way. Even for physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions, it is common knowledge that any kind of emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body.
Often referred to as "Psychological acupressure", the technique works by releasing blockages within the energy system which are the source of emotional intensity and discomfort. These blockages in our energy system, in addition to challenging us emotionally, often lead to limiting beliefs and behaviors and an inability to live life harmoniously. EFT helps move these blockages so individuals can live a happier, healthier life.

Starting and sustaining a meditation practice is one of the key pillars in my teachings. It works for all parts of the pyramid: the mind, the body and the spirit.
The simplicity of being and quieting the mind, however, can be one of the most challenging components in the healing and expanding process. There will always be a great excuse, outstanding rationale, pressing deadline, true time constraint, physical pain or any other type of distraction to keep someone from beginning or continuing their meditation practice. I get it. I’ve been that person. Too busy to meditate and definitely someone who had more important things to do than sit down and be quiet. I was one of the hundreds of people that I’ve now met who tell me they don’t know “how-to” meditate. To that I say, B.S.
If you can breathe, you can meditate; plain and simple.
The actual sitting down and just being with yourself is where most people stop. They believe there is some right or wrong way to be still. Truthfully, that’s just your ego’s way of trying to tell you you’re no good at it before you even started. The ego also loves to try and tell you that you’ll do it wrong. Do not listen, unless you want to stay stuck in the mind that won’t stop talking and never turns off.
This is why it’s called a meditation practice. There’s no need to be perfect in your practice. We all have good days and bad days. It’s the same with meditation. You will have great experiences and seemingly not so great ones.
It’s not about judging the experience itself, but simply showing up for yourself.
Over and over and over again.
You and your practice may change over time. That’s great. Some months, I meditate every day, twice a day for 20 minutes. Other months, I may meditate for a few minutes in the morning and at night before bed. Other months are totally sporadic and inconsistent. The point is not that one is better than the other, it’s that I come back to me. I come back to the stillness and opportunity to explore within me. And you can too.

Similar to meditation, there is no right or wrong way to find yoga in your own life.
Many people believe a yoga practice is something that is done on a yoga mat. And, while yes, that is true, the word yoga itself means union. And, a union can be formed in various ways. Having a yoga practice is about all aspects of self, both on and off of the mat.
To me, yoga exists anytime I feel connected to my higher self and in communion with my body, mind and spirit. I love having my asana (a posture adopted in Hatha yoga) practice on the mat for many reasons. It helps open me up to my breath, balances my energy, strengthens my muscles and my belief systems about what I’m truly capable of and it always takes me on a deeper journey of self-exploration.
I also love finding yoga in other places in my life.
During a retreat, we will often take walks along the beach or walk silently during a hike to connect to a moving meditation or union within ourselves and our surroundings.
For many, they may find yoga in a creative form. I love to dance and have recently found how beautiful it is to be in the union of dance and movement with my body through this yogic practice.
There can be many forms of realization for the self when you are in pursuit of the things you love and willing to push yourself beyond what may feel comfortable for you. I don’t always want to roll out my mat and start an asana (poses) yoga practice, but every time I do, I am so grateful that I was willing to push beyond my ego and dive into myself.
